Use A 3 Phase Charging Cable To Connect Your Type 2 EV To A Type 2 A Home Wall Box Or Public Charging Point
Our 22kW 32A Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable will provide your EV with up to 22kW current. You can use the cable with a Type 2 socket wall charger or a public charging point. For example, the charging stations you will find at retail parks, supermarkets and on the street.
It does not matter if the Type 2 socket charging point is 3 Phase or 1 Phase because the charging point will work out how much current your vehicle will accept and how much current the cable can handle. The cable can therefore be used with ALL Type 2 charging points with an open socket.
This cable is not an extension cable. You will therefore not be able to use it to connect the Type 2 male plug to the Type 2 female plug of an EV cable or charger. It is therefore not suitable for charging points with a lead already attached. Or, as an extension for a 3 pin charger or any other charging cable. You can only insert the plug directly into the socket of a Type 2 charging point.
Choosing The Right Type 2 Charging Cable
Is My Vehicle Type 2?
The majority of electric vehicles sold in Europe will have a Type 2 socket. The vehicle will either have a 7 hole charging socket or a 9 hole CCS socket. CCS stands for Combined Charging Socket and the Type 2 cable fits into the 7 hole upper chamber of the CCS socket.
A CCS socket will allow an electric vehicle to be charged using a DC rapid charger. The CCS socket accepts Direct Current (DC) to charge the vehicle up to 150kW, which is much faster than a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable. Our cables can be used with any AC (Alternating Current) charging point. These are wall chargers and the free charging points that you will find at supermarkets and retail parks, for example.
A CCS charger requires a fee to charge your EV. The unit will also have a cable already attached to it. The plug on a CCS cable fits into the entire chamber of the vehicle socket, all 9 holes! Use our EV Cable Finder to locate your EV / PHEV so you can see if 1. your vehicle has the Type 2 socket and 2. the Type 2 22kW charging cable is the best one for your vehicle.
Is The 22kW Cable Suitable For My EV?
Our Type 2 to Type 2 cables conform to the IEC 62196-2 standard, which means that they are compatible with a Type 2 charging point and any Type 2 socket vehicle. If you do not have possession of your vehicle and you cannot check the vehicle socket, then please click the Type 2 EV List tab. Or, if you are not sure whether a 1 Phase 32A or 3 Phase 32A charging cable is more suitable for your vehicle, you can click the button below to locate your vehicle and discover more information about it’s charging capacity.
Choice Of Cable Bags
We provide a free canvas cable bag (suitable for cables up to 10M) to store this charger when not in use. You can also upgrade the bag to a cable case made from EVA material for enhanced waterproofing and impact protection. The EVA case has an elasticated strap in the bottom compartment and elasticated mesh pocket in the top. So it allows convenient storage of two cables. The EVA case can therefore carry 2 cables if each cable does not exceed 10 metres length (20M total length). You can replace the canvas bag with an EVA case by selecting the option in the basket or checkout page.
