Extend the Type 2 vehicle plug of a 1 Phase 32A or 16A Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable.
Our 7kW Type 2 to Type 2 32A charging cable will provide up to 7,4kW and can be used with a wall charger or a public charging point such as the charging stations you will find at retail parks, supermarkets and on the street. All public charging points (without a cable attached to it) and over 99% of wall chargers in the UK have a Type 2 socket. It does not matter if the charging point is 3 Phase or 1 Phase because the charging point will work out how much current your vehicle will accept and how much current the cable can handle. The cable can therefore be used with ALL Type 2 charging points. This cable is not an extension cable and it will therefore not work if the Type 2 male plug is connected to the Type 2 female plug of an existing EV charging cable or charger. The cable can only be plugged directly into the socket of a Type 2 charging point.
Choosing The Right Charging Cable
Is My Vehicle Type 2?
The majority of electric vehicles that are sold in Europe have a Type 2 socket. The vehicle will either have a 7 hole charging socket or a 9 hole CCS socket. CCS stands for Combined Charging Socket and the Type 2 cable fits into the 7 hole upper chamber of the CCS socket. A CCS socket will allow an electric vehicle to be charged using a DC rapid charger. The CCS socket accepts Direct Current (DC) to charge the vehicle up to 150kW, which is much faster than a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable. Our cables can only be used with an AC (Alternating Current) charging point, which are wall chargers and the free ones that you will find at supermarkets and retail parks. However, a CCS charger requires a fee and the unit will always have a cable attached to it. The plug on a CCS cable fits into the entire chamber of the vehicle socket, all 9 holes! Use our EV Cable Finder to locate your EV / PHEV so you can see if 1. your vehicle has the Type 2 socket and 2. the Type 2 7kW charging cable is the best one for your vehicle.

Vehicle Compatibility
Our Type 2 to Type 2 cables conform to the IEC 62196-2 standard, which means that they are compatible with a Type 2 charging point and any Type 2 socket vehicle. If you do not have possession of your vehicle and you cannot check the vehicle socket, then please click the Type 2 EV List tab.
